The Micro Small and Medium-scale Enterprise (MSME) Fest is an initiative of Joint Initiative for Development (JID Global), a registered Non-Profit in Nigeria led by young professionals. The MSME Fest’s pioneering edition was held in Abuja in 2011. Subsequent editions have been held in Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt.

The MSME Fest was created to help SMEs explore alternative means of increasing productivity with the goal of seeing SMEs expand to create jobs required by the nation. With Nigeria expected to be one of the greatest beneficiaries of an increased workforce population, fast paced urbanization and technological acceleration, it is important that the nations SME and the economy is positioned to maximize these opportunities. The SME sub-sector contributes 80% to Africa’s employment and over 33% to GDP according to the African Development Bank. There is a whopping $5.6 trillion business to be harvested in Africa by 2025 (MGI).

It is in ensuring that Nigeria accelerates development and the diversification of its economy, uniting actors in both the private and public sector that the MSME Fest 2017 is convened.
