IFRA-Nairobi: Fieldwork Grants 2018

The French Institute for Research in Africa (IFRA-Nairobi) is currently inviting masters and doctoral students for its Fieldwork Grants 2018 to conduct their research in one of the five East African countries covered by the Institute: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.

Themes

IFRA’s main research themes include:

  • Political Dynamics
  • Culture and Society
  • Economy
  • Land Issues

Topics

The following topics are IFRA’s priority areas:

  • Devolution: Public policy, Identity and Politics
  • Violence & security : police violence, daily security practices
  • Labor and Informal trade
  • Social inequalities, morality and authority

Grant Amount

500 to 1000 euros depending on the place of residency.

Note: All applications will be reviewed and that some of the grants will be given to students of non-priority topics.

Eligible Countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.
