In relation to the theme, Rotary in partnership with UNICEF Kenya shall host an Innovation Fair to showcase the innovative projects and enterprises offering impactful solutions to the problems that communities are facing daily.

The Generation Unlimited Rotary-UNICEF Youth Challenge will support young women, young men and all young people to identify, understand and solve challenges they and their peers face. The first step to realizing the Youth Challenge in country offices is to issue a call for solutions that will be spread far and wide. These shall be done within the scope of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals under UNICEF and Rotary’s areas of focus. The 20 selected exhibitors shall:

● Have the platform to engage with like-minded individuals and key decision makers in and beyond

governments.

● Be trained by UNICEF Kenya and partners on crafting and scaling humanitarian innovations.

● Showcase their innovations to over 1000 participants of the Rotary Day at the United Nations Office in Nairobi on 10 November 2018.

● Be recognised for their impactful innovations that are addressing the most essential needs in our communities.

● 5 innovations will be nominated and presented with financial assistance of USD $1,000 seed funding followed by a 6 week UNICEF Kenya led mentoring and incubation process.

● Top 2 ideas will be chosen to be selected for a UNICEF Global Generation Unlimited Challenge to compete for USD $20,000.

***Eligibility****

● Ages 14-24

● Cannot be associated with a company or start-up funding the innovations.

● Ideas/Innovations between 0-3 years since inception are eligible. It must be unique.

● Innovation should be a problem-solving solution that can be implemented in an informal

settlement to help a marginalized community.

The five winners of the competition could be announced as part of the Rotary UN Day on 10 November or later

keeping in mind the logistical requirements.
