StartupWave and internet.org organized Developer Garages in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad

StartupWave along with Internet.org and IAMAI organized a series of Developer Garages on the 13th, 14th and 16th July in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad respectively. The objective of these Garages was to support social change organizations and developers to be able to build scalable mobile websites and applications to provide critical information and services to low income communities. More than 80 developers, coders, and social enterprises joined the Garages.

The workshops were conducted by Praekelt Foundation and Facebook engineers on best in class practices to build for feature phones and low bandwidth conditions. The speakers included Konstantinos Papamiltiadis, Head of Strategic Platform Partnerships, Facebook and Deepti Doshi, Head of Strategic Partnerships, South Asia, Facebook, internet.org.

StartupWave addressed the issues related to business model development to help build and sustain the innovations. Both organizations will also talk spoke their respective programs, Facebook’s FbStart for Social Good and StartupWave’s Incubator, to help the entrepreneurs in their journey towards building a successful enterprise.
